Final Broadcast is a collective of artists responding to the UK digital switch over during April 2012. A diverse group of artists are making new works to mark the end of analogue broadcasting and the transition to digital broadcasting. The original method of televised broadcasting is ending transmission and transferring to a new digital signal. Final Broadcast will present the social history of broadcasting and explore the role of television in new media practices and contemporary society. Artworks will reflect on the social and cultural history of a medium in a significant time and change of context.
Final Broadcast will showcase new work by a selection of artists working in Moving Image, Installation and live practices. Exhibitions and live events are planned for the 18th of April – the scheduled UK switch over date. Come and celebrate the end of a broadcast medium in what will be the final broadcast.
